1. Manage your preferences
Use the toggles below to choose which categories of cookies we set. Essential cookies cannot be turned off because the site relies on them to function. All other categories are off by default until you actively switch them on.
3. Legal basis
UK law on cookies is the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), interpreted alongside the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. The Information Commissioner's Office regulates compliance.
The rules are:
- Strictly necessary cookies. No consent required, but we must tell you about them. These are the cookies in our "Essential" category above.
- All other cookies. Require your prior consent. Consent must be a clear affirmative action (a deliberate opt-in, not a pre-ticked box, not implied from continued browsing).
- Withdrawal. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time. The "Reject all optional" button above does this.
We rely on consent as our legal basis for non-essential cookies. For the limited personal data those cookies process, our legal basis under UK GDPR is also consent (Article 6(1)(a)).
5. Third-party cookies
Some cookies on this site are set by third parties whose services we use. The most common third parties are:
- Google: analytics, advertising, conversion tracking
- Microsoft: Bing/Microsoft Advertising, Clarity behaviour analytics
- Meta (Facebook): advertising and conversion tracking
These third parties have their own privacy policies and use the data they collect for their own purposes (typically including advertising on their own platforms). We choose providers carefully, prefer those who offer regional data residency in the UK or EU. Third-party cookies are only set if you have opted in to the relevant category.
6. Browser controls
Most modern browsers let you block or delete cookies directly. The exact steps depend on your browser:
Blocking cookies through your browser overrides the preferences you set on this page. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site will not work.
7. Do not track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" header that asks websites not to track you across sites. There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond to this signal, so we do not currently change behaviour based on it. The cookie preferences you set on this page take precedence over the DNT header.
Newer browsers (and the EU "Global Privacy Control" specification) are working towards a standard that we may adopt in future. If we do, we will update this policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in law or in the tools we use. The "last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when we last revised it.
If we make a material change, we will ask you for fresh consent the next time you visit. Minor changes (a new cookie added to an existing category, an updated link) do not trigger a new consent request.
